Welcome back to a grand new year.  I hope all of you had a wonderful break filled with laughter, family, and fun.  We are quickly working our way to the end of the semester.  This is a good time to review your child’s successes and needs and begin to plan for the rest of the school year.

End of the Marking Period: January 13, 2017 is the last day of the second quarter.  Grades will be recorded and on January 24th, report cards will be distributed.

Sixth Grade Elections: The sixth grade had their class officer elections.  Below are the students that were victorious in their campaign:

          President:              Lilly Bouch

          Vice President:      Izzy Catalone

          Treasurer:             Sara Anderson

          Secretary:             Olivia Eckels

Cup Dispensers: In order to prevent some of the spread of germs during this time of year, we will be installing disposable cup dispensers by all of the water fountains.  Students can select to use these instead of the standard fountains.

DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education):  This very popular program for our sixth grade students will begin the week of January 9th,  each homeroom will have one lesson a week for ten weeks.  This program is sponsored by the City of St. Marys Police Department.

Grade 8 Leadership Presentations: Traditionally, the eighth grade had guest speakers to expose and educate them on leadership characteristics.  The first presentation for the students will be done by Asst. High School Principal, Mr. Beck on January 13th.

In-service Day: Monday, January 15, the students will not have school.  The teachers will be attending an in-service day at this time.  School will resume on Tuesday.  Enjoy the long weekend.

7th Grade Small Group: Our School Counselors provided small group RESPECT sessions for the entire seventh grade.  The purpose of these sessions was to provide the students with skills to promote stronger friendships and relationships within their class.
