Miss Klein

A little bit about me:

Hey! I'm Miss Klein, a native of St. Marys and graduate of ECC--Class of '06. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I did half of my student teaching in Johnstown and half abroad in Auckland, New Zealand. I graduated in 2010 with a certificate in elementary education. Soon after, I was certified for the mid-level areas of science, math, and English language arts. In 2012, I attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated to obtain my Masters degree in Education of Exceptional Persons and my certificate in special education. I began my career at Saint Marys Area Middle School for the 2013-2014 school year, and was a Learning Support teacher of science, social studies, reading, and English for two years, until I was able to pursue my interest in science. In 2016, my job title was shifted from learning support teacher to science teacher. I teach both 7th and 8th grade science classes now, and I love the challenge of the content, new and up-coming technology, and the students’ curiosity.

My professional interests include the works of Rick Wormeli on Standards-Based Grading, Dave Burgess's Teach Like a PIRATE, as well as Debbie Silver's works Fear of Failure--Why Both Gifted & Talented and Struggling Students Stop Trying.

In my free time I cook, run, read, and paint. I love coffee, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and hanging out with my parents' dog, Joey. Over school breaks, I also take care of our class pets, Sally, Svetlana, and Tesla.

Please refer to Google Classroom and Power School for updates on assignments and grades. If there are any questions,  feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Miss Krista Klein, M. Ed.
