Meet the Teacher

¡Buenas!  Es un placer conocerte.

Hello.  My name is Mrs. Jennifer Yavorsky Tamburlin and I have had the pleasure of teaching in the St. Marys Area School District since 2003.  I am a SMAHS graduate Class of '99.  I have a B.A. in Spanish as well as a B.S. in Spanish Education K-12 from Duquesne University.   In addition, I have attained a Master's Equivalency in Spanish from Tech de Monterrey/Univ of Northern Iowa and a Master's of Educational Technology from Wilson College. My other credentials include being a Google Certified Trainer, Google Certified Coach (Jan '22), and a PA Instructional Technology Specialist (Dec. '21).

Over the years I have enjoyed teaching all levels of High School and Middle School Spanish. Since 2014 I have assumed the role of the SMA Virtual Academy Coordinator, and as of 2015, I have also begun my efforts as a technology coach for the district. In 2021 this role has begun to transition to one of general instructional coaching where I have the opportunity to work with SMAMS and SMAHS teachers to help them grow and improve their pedagogical practices.

From November through May my school day is extended to head up the St. Marys Area High School Dance Team as their coach and choreographer.  This is a program that I have been involved with since its initiation and am very proud to have had the opportunity to work with such talented students and staff over the years.

Outside of my career, I have a passion for global travel and have adopted the following motto:
"I haven't been everywhere, but it is on my list." - Susan Sontag
