Welcome

"Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here" ~ J.K. Rowling
Hello!  My name is Amy Sines and I am the Middle School choral director and general music teacher. I entered into the Music Education profession because I wanted to share my love and passion for music with young people.  This passion has grown stronger as I have been working with middle school students for the past 20 years.  They truly are a unique group of young adults and I feel privileged and honored to teach them.

After graduating from Meyersdale Area High School in 1997, I attended Elizabethtown College and received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 2001.  I then spent the next 4 consecutive summers at Penn State University working on my Masters in Music Education Degree.  My areas of concentration were in vocal and choral singing, but I am also a pianist and I played the french horn through college.

When I am not in school, I manage to keep myself busy at home with my husband, 4 children, and 2 dogs.  Some of our favorite family activities include camping, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with one another.  When I manage to find a free moment, I love to listen to music, cook, and read. I enjoy listening to all genres of music from all time periods.  Some of my favorite musicians include Mozart, Debussy, Stravinsky, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam and The Avett Brothers.
